Is it always the best bet to rely on natural products to take care of your skin, hair and overall health?
All natural products cannot be labeled as good or effective for your skin or hair, but there are some which really work wonders.
‘Go natural’- this has been my mantra for the past couple of years. Be it skin care or the food I eat, I try to use as many natural products as possible. Some of them have become my go-to essentials whereas some I had to cast aside.
Here, I will give a complete list of what natural products really worked for me and how. Also, I will tell you how you can prepare remedies from these natural products at your home.
7 Must-Have Natural Products In Your Beauty Routine
1. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is probably one of the most-used and most recommended natural products by experts worldwide. It comes with amazing moisturizing, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which makes it a blessing for our skin and hair.
Coconut oil is undoubtedly my daily go-to product to condition my skin as well as my hair. And, I use it in a simple and hassle-free way- see how!
For Skin
Coconut oil is something I swear by for my night-time regime. I have been using it as a moisturizer during the night in just three simple steps :
- Step 1- Take some oil in your palm. Gently rub it in circular motions with your finger tips throughout your face and neck.
- Step 2- Keep massaging gently for 30-60 seconds.
- Step 3- Simply wash your face with the face wash that you use. I prefer a mild face wash.
For Hair
Coconut oil is one of those natural products that deeply conditions our hair making it healthy and hydrating. It has proven immensely effective time and again. Coconut oil can prevent hair loss and even maintain the moisture of the hair making it smoother and thicker.
Here’s how you can make a coconut oil hair mask:
- Step 1 : Warm one teaspoon of coconut oil. This oil is comparatively more solid than the other oils and can require a bit warming up before use.
- Step 2 : Massage the warm oil on your scalp with your fingertips. And, then you can use a detangling comb to spread the complete oil throughout your hair.
- Step 3 – Cover your hair with a shower cap for around 30 minutes or even overnight. And, then wash it simply using a shampoo and conditioner. This oil is a bit hard to rinse off, so you might have to shampoo and rinse twice to get it all out.
2. ALOE VERA
Aloe Vera-an evergreen plant that can grow anywhere and anytime can be found in several households. Although it is a wild plant, its calming and soothing effect on the skin is simply incredible.
Extracting Aloe Vera gel from the plant is really easy. You need to take one leaf. Remove its thorn part. Slice the green part of the leaf and just scrape the gel with a spoon or a knife.
Tip– Remember to keep the leaf in a bowl for 15 minutes (gel side in the bowl). It would release all the toxins. Then, you can wash the leaf and scrape the gel.
The gel of the Aloe Vera plant is one such natural product that is packed with enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, saponins, minerals and sugar which are extremely beneficial for your skin and hair.
For Skin
Applying Aloe-Vera gel on the skin is as simple as it can get! All you need out to do is:
- Scrape the gel. You can also keep the scraped gel of one leaf in an air-tight container. Keep it in the refrigerator and use as needed. Change the gel after a week or so.
- Apply the gel on your skin and massage gently.
- Keep it on for 10 minutes and wash it with cold water. Pat it dry.
This will instantly soothe and moisturize your skin and is an effective remedy for sun burns.
For Hair
Aloe-vera gel is also one of the most effective natural products for your hair health and growth. Here’s a simple way in which you can use it as a hair mask.
- Take the scraped gel.
- Apply the gel directly on your scalp. Or you can blend it with your hair oil (preferably olive or coconut oil) and then massage it onto your scalp.
- Keep it on for an hour or so.
- Wash it with a mild shampoo.
You can do this every time you go for a head wash.
3. HONEY
For Skin
Honey is one of the few natural products that has been used since time immemorial in beauty and skin-care routine. Honey deeply conditions the skin, nourishes it and keeps it blemish-free.
I use a fairly simple method to apply honey on my skin. It’s always better to use organic honey.
All you need to do is
- Wet your face
- Apply raw honey

Raw milk is a natural product that was used in ancient times to keep the skin youthful, healthy, supple and glowing. Its nourishing and moisturizing properties are quite powerful.
And, the best part is it is quite easy to apply. The best way to use raw milk on your skin is as a cleanser. It is quite good in removing all the underlying dirt on the face without stripping off the natural moisture of the skin.
Just 3 quick steps is what it takes :

- Step 2 – Take a cotton ball and dip it in the milk. Wipe your face gently with this cotton ball.
- Step 3 : Keep it on for 3-4 minutes and then wash it with cold water.
For Hair
Using milk for hair might not be the best bet. But, you can give it a try and follow these steps if you want to.
- Take a spray bottle and fill it with milk.
- Spray the milk throughout your scalp. For deep conditioning of your hair, make sure you spray it all over your scalp and hair tips.
- De-tangle your hair with a wide-toothed comb. Unmanaged hair might trap the milk in your hair roots which could be really difficult to get rid of.
- Massage the scalp for 30 minutes or so.
- Rinse your hair completely with water. And, then shampoo and condition as normal.
