Words have a lot of power. The power to bring positive changes, alter perspectives and even cause revolutions. If you are someone who reads, you would know how just one book, especially self help books can deeply influence your actions, habits and even overall approach towards life.
There are certain such self help books that have remained with me and even helped me live a more meaningful and happier life. And, here are my top 5 ones that have certainly put things in perspective for me, to a very great extent
1. The Secret
Manifestation can really work wonders- and this is what this book taught me. The effect a positive manifestation can have in your life is immense. I read this book when I was having a hard time, especially with my relationships. And, unbelievable as it might seem, a little change in my thinking courtesy this book, I started attracting things and people that healed me and made me happy.
You might wonder how difficult it can be. But, trust me when it comes to manifesting something for real, it requires a great deal of mental clarity and a bountiful optimism. How do we achieve that? The Secret has all the secrets!
2. Atomic Habits
It is rightly said that ‘Man is a creature of habit’. And this book tells you exactly how to develop good, healthy habits that will keep you steady and going in the long run.
I am someone who gives up quite easily. I exercise vigorously for 2 or 3 days and then again I fall into that spiral of sleep, exhaustion, hectic routine and what not. Everyone breaks their routine or healthy habits and this is where this book comes in quite handy. ‘Atomic Habits’ helps you build your habits step by step. So, even if you break the habit for a day or two, it is easy to bounce back.
3. The Inner Game Of Tennis
After I started playing Tennis, I came across this book which is written by a tennis coach, Timothy Gallwey. I started this book with an intent to learn a thing or two about tennis but I finished it learning so much more than just tennis.
This book teaches you the art of listening to your subconscious mind to do every task at hand with ultimate perfection. It helps you overcome your fears and anxieties to get the mental clarity to succeed in not just tennis but every aspect of life.
4. Ikigai
‘Ikigai’- this term is basically a Japanese concept of living a life of purpose. A reason that would make you get out of bed in the morning. Ikigai is one such book that tells how & what the Japanese do to live a life of purpose and in turn lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.
This book is basically research done on the lifestyles of people who live in a small Japanese village. As per statistics, people living in this village are the happiest and are known to live the longest lives. And, ‘Ikigai’ tells you exactly how they do that.
5. Untamed
‘And now when you do not have to be good, you can be free’
Your life is nothing but a series of choices that you make. I believe that this book should be read by every woman who feels lost in life, who feels that she is not enough. ‘Untamed’ is a powerhouse of a book that motivates you to never give up on your dreams and be free, in every sense of the word. It will give you an instant boost of motivation and inspiration to create your own happy world, the way you want to.
